Challenge 1: Brief a new colleague
Challenge 1: Brief a new colleague
Time required: approximately 15 minutes
Pick a real task from your week
Choose something you actually need done, such as drafting a meeting summary, writing a client email, or reviewing a document.
Upload your source material
Add the relevant file into your Claude chat. This could be meeting notes, a report, a brief, or an email thread.
Write a prompt with context and instructions
Include four things in your prompt: the task, the audience, the format you want, and any constraints. For example: “Summarise this meeting transcript for my team. Use bullet points, keep it under 150 words, and highlight any action items with owners and deadlines.”
Challenge 2: Set up your first Project
Challenge 2: Set up your first Project
Time required: approximately 20 minutes
Identify a repeating task
Think of something you do regularly, such as writing weekly updates, preparing client summaries, or reviewing proposals.
Create a new Project
Go to Projects in the sidebar and click “Create Project.” Name it clearly, for example “Weekly Team Updates” or “Client Proposal Reviews.”
Add your reference files
Upload 2 to 3 files that Claude should always have access to for this task. These could be templates, brand guidelines, past examples, or reference documents.
Write custom instructions
In the Project instructions, tell Claude how to behave. For example: “You are helping me write weekly project updates. Use a professional tone, Australian English spelling, and keep each update under 200 words. Always include a risks section.”
Challenge 3: The deep research brief
Challenge 3: The deep research brief
Time required: approximately 30 minutes
Choose a topic you need to understand
Pick a real question relevant to your role. For example: a new regulation affecting your industry, a competitor’s recent product launch, or a technology your team is evaluating.
Turn on Research mode
Start a new Claude chat and enable Research. This tells Claude to search across multiple sources and compile a structured report.
Write a focused research prompt
Be specific about what you need and how you want it structured. For example: “Research the latest changes to Australian privacy regulations affecting financial services. Summarise the key changes, who is impacted, and what actions businesses should take. Structure this as a one-page briefing document.”
Add your own context for comparison
Upload an internal document, such as your current compliance policy or a team briefing. Then ask: “Compare what you found with the attached document. Identify any gaps or areas we need to update.”
